Voyage's free tier: what you actually get
Voyage is free in part. As of October 30, 2026, the free plan includes public multiplayer worlds and Scenarios, Voyage's open-ended story mode, with no subscription. Solo play is where the limit sits. Free accounts get a starter balance of Usage for solo play and premium features such as voice narration, and the pricing page lists unlimited solo play as not included on the free plan. Some accounts also get daily top-ups to that balance. The paid plans start at $11.67 a month billed annually, and each one includes unlimited core play, solo worlds, and AI Dungeon.
We build Branching Skies, a mobile AI RPG in the same category, and we wrote this because "Is Voyage free?" has a longer answer than yes or no. Everything below comes from Voyage's pricing page, read on October 30, 2026. Plans change, so check the page before you decide.
What can you play on Voyage for free?
Two things, without a time limit listed on the page. Public multiplayer worlds are free to join, and so is Scenarios, the mode where you write anything and the AI runs with it. If your idea of a good evening is a shared world with other players, the free plan covers that.
What the free plan does not include is hosting your own multiplayer world or playing solo worlds without limit. Hosting comes with the paid plans, and solo play on the free plan draws on Usage.
How much solo play do you get for free?
Solo play on the free plan runs on starter Usage, which the pricing page describes as the free balance you begin with for solo play and premium features. The page does not publish how many turns that balance buys, and we will not guess. If your account includes daily top-ups, the Usage menu explains them and shows when the next one is available.
The page's FAQ also lists "What happens if I run out of my allotted Usage?" Read that answer before you plan a long solo campaign on the free plan. The practical test: spend your starter balance on a short solo session of the kind you most want to play, and watch the Usage menu as you go.
What do the paid plans add?
Voyage lists four paid plans under the name Voyage Unlimited. Billed annually, they work out to these monthly amounts:
- Journey: $11.67 a month ($140.04 a year).
- Legend: $22.67 a month ($272.04 a year).
- Mythic: $39.67 a month ($476.04 a year), marked Best Value.
- Ultimate: $79.17 a month ($949.99 a year).
Monthly billing is also offered, and the page notes that annual prices are monthly equivalents, billed once a year. Every paid plan includes unlimited core play, solo worlds, hosting multiplayer worlds, and Scenarios. Every paid plan also includes AI Dungeon with unlimited play at the same tier. The bigger plans differ in weekly premium Usage, which pays for extras: better story models, voice narration, Studio AI, and custom images. When that weekly Usage runs out, the page says you keep playing on your plan's included settings. One more line from the page is worth knowing: unlimited play may slow down for extreme usage when server capacity is limited.
Is memory included on Voyage's free plan?
Deeper memory is a paid feature. Enhanced Memory is included on Mythic and Max Memory on Ultimate. On Journey and Legend, enhanced memory is listed among the extras that draw on weekly premium Usage. The free plan lists neither.
If memory is the thing you care about most, test it on whichever plan you try: meet a character, play a while, come back to them, and see whether they know what happened. Our checklist for finding an AI campaign that remembers has seven tests like that one, and our mobile AI RPG buyer's guide compares the field on the same terms.
Is there an AI RPG like Voyage that is free?
It depends on what you want for free. For multiplayer, Voyage itself is free in its public worlds. For open-ended stories, Scenarios is free there too. If you want to compare Voyage with its sibling product, our Voyage vs AI Dungeon guide covers both.
For solo play, free options are thinner. We are building Branching Skies so that the free tier is the whole single-player game, supported by ads, and the game remembers your campaign the same on every tier. It is a different kind of game from Voyage: one hand-built world, Syrinway, that we ran as a homebrew tabletop campaign for close to a decade, played on your phone. It is also not out yet. If a hand-built world is what you are after, our guide to Voyage alternatives with a curated world lists the options you can play today.
How to get the most from Voyage's free plan
- Start in public multiplayer. It is free on the page with no Usage listed against it, so it is the cheapest way to learn how Voyage plays.
- Use Scenarios for quick ideas. It is free on the free plan and suits one-line premises.
- Spend starter Usage on a test. Pick the solo world you most want to play and run a short session, so you see what Usage buys before you pay for more.
- Check the Usage menu daily if your account includes top-ups.
