Terms of Use

Effective date: October 20, 2026

This is not legal advice. These terms were written without a lawyer's review; we will have counsel review them before paid features launch.

These terms are the agreement between you and us about the Branching Skies game and website. We wrote them in plain language. If you use the game, you agree to them.

Who we are

Branching Skies is operated by BB Creatives LLC, a Georgia limited liability company, doing business as Midnight Gremlins. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that company.

Who may play

You must be 18 or older to make an account or play. If you are under 18, do not use Branching Skies. We may close an account that belongs to someone under 18.

Your account

You sign in with an email and password, or with Google or Apple. Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at privacy@mail.branchingskies.com if you think someone else is using it.

The rules

Sexual content involving minors: one confirmed case closes the account. Other rule breaks get one warning, then a ban.

These are not allowed in Branching Skies:

Sexually explicit content of any kind. Any sexual content involving minors, and any sexualization of someone depicted as a minor. Impersonating a real person. Doxxing and harassment. Hate speech aimed at protected groups. Content that promotes self-harm, suicide methods or eating disorders. Instructions for real-world violence, weapons or drugs. Prompt injection, probing the system for how it works, and evading a ban.

Mild profanity is not a rule break.

How turns are screened and who reads them

Machines screen every turn for safety: your words before the story runs, and the story before you see it. The end of a day and the X-Card are checked just after the story is shown. If a screen cannot answer in time, the turn goes ahead. A person reads a turn only when it is flagged, when you ask us for help with it, or when you agreed to playtest. A named reviewer does each read, through a reader that logs every read. A screen can flag a turn. It never bans an account by itself, and a named reviewer confirms every ban.

If you are a beta tester, you agree that we may review your sessions, meaning your turns, to find and fix defects. After launch, this clause does not cover players. Their turns are read on the other two paths only.

If a line you type sounds like a real-life crisis, the game steps out of the story and shows referrals to free crisis lines. That is never a rule break. The crisis protocol page has the details.

The Privacy Policy says what we collect, which AI companies receive your words, and how long we keep things.

Warnings, bans and the one appeal

Outside the worst category, you get one plain out-of-story warning before a ban. Sexual content involving minors is a ban with no warning, confirmed by a named reviewer, and we report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

If your account is banned, you can appeal once, inside the app, in up to 1000 characters. A named reviewer reads the appeal. Only the reviewer's decision closes it, either ban kept or ban lifted. A ban that was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cannot be appealed, and no appeal reverses that report.

Your words and the license we need

Your stories are yours. To run the game, you give us a license to store, process and show back the words you type and the story that is written for you, inside your own campaign. That includes sending them to the AI companies named in the Privacy Policy so the story can be written and screened, and letting a reviewer read them on the paths above. We do not publish your stories to other players.

The story is written by AI

The narration and the characters are generated by AI. The story is fiction. It can be wrong, and it is not advice of any kind. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, money or safety decisions. No person reads the story before it reaches you, and the machine screens are not perfect. If something in a story upsets you, the X-Card in the app lets you say so and move on.

Our property and what you may not do with it

The app, the world of Syrinway, the characters and the Branching Skies name belong to us or to the people who license them to us. You may play the game. You may not decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer the app or its service, and you may not use automated tools to pull out our prompts or the model's output in order to rebuild the service. Where the law gives you a right to do something despite this clause, this clause does not take that right away.

Paid features

Paid features will have their own terms when they launch. The daily allowance on the free plan can change.

Ending your use

You can stop playing at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by writing to privacy@mail.branchingskies.com. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, in the way the section on warnings and bans describes. Some records stay after an account is deleted, as the Privacy Policy explains.

No promises about the game

Branching Skies is provided as it is. It is a game still being built. We do not promise that it will always work or that it will be free of errors.

Limits on what we owe you

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses that come from using the game. For any other claim, what we owe you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. If you paid nothing, that amount is zero. Nothing here limits a right the law gives you that cannot be waived.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as the game grows. We will update the effective date at the top of this page. If you keep playing after a change, you accept the new terms.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA. There is no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver in these terms.
